AN/WQN 2 DSVL
Doppler Sonar Velocity Log
Features
 |
Key Functions
A three axis speed log that provides Fore-Aft and Port-Starboard speed for surface ships, plus vertical speed for submarines. Measures speeds over ground and through the water more accurately than current standards.

Reduced Maintenance and Lower Life Cycle Cost
The DSVL requires only a one-time calibration with a single calibration factor for all speeds, eliminating the need for periodic recalibration resulting in a measurable savings of time and money. The DSVL has established a record of significantly fewer repairs and less down time, resulting in a higher mean time between failures (MTBF). The system has a built-in self diagnostic test (BITE: Built-In Test), making it easy to identify faults. The equipment can be easily repaired by the ship's maintenance force, down to the modular replacement of LRU's. The DSVL flush mounted transducer removes the risk of broken or damaged sensor, an ongoing problem with the EM log's protruding sensor.
An Easy Transition from the EM Log to the DSVL
As electromagnetic (EM) technology ages, navies around the world are recognizing the benefits of improved sonar technology. Installation of a DSVL requires minimal interface changes from the EM log setup. It is fully compatible with existing synchro interfaces and offers digital interface options as well. The transducer fits into the EM log hull liner, eliminating the need for any major hull work.
