INSTRUCTIONS
Until recently, all type approval certificates were stand-alone and complete. The EU has now divided certificates up into Module B (certifying that the equipment meets requirements) and Module D (certifying that the manufacturer meets quality assurance requirements).
Some shipyard/owners also require a Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer declaring that the equipment meets requirements and referencing the other certificates.
Sperry Marine makes every endeavor to maintain on file on our web site, all certificates of type approval and declarations of conformity. The most efficient way to locate specific certificates is to select the “Type Approval” heading in the upper-left portion of the Sperry Marine/Northrop Grumman Home page.
It is also possible to get there by selecting the same link in the lower-left corner of any Product Brochure. This will only work if there is a product brochure for that product on the web (for example, not for NAVIKNOT 400).
Once into the Type Approval page, you can select Search in the Yellow Block and, after several seconds, obtain a list of all certificates and declarations. This will produce an overwhelming list.
Or, you can select one or more of the following to limit your search:
- Product Group/Product
- Country
- Agency/Organization
- Type of certificate
Selecting Product Group/Product alone, Search will produce all certificates/declarations for that specific product.

Selecting Country alone, Search will produce all certificates/declarations from that country.
Provides a list of all ABS, FCC and USCG documents
If teamed with Product Group/Product Search will produce all certificates/declarations from that country for that product.
Selecting Agency/Organization alone, Search will produce all certificates/declarations from that Agency or Organization.

Be aware that several agencies have, over the years, had more than one name:

Defense Test and Evaluation Organization or
Qinetiq
Marine Safety Agency or

If teamed with other above examples, will provide certificates for those products and from those countries, issued by a specific agency.
Selecting Type of certificate alone, Search will produce all certificates of a certain type, for example all Module D, or all Type Approvals.
EXAMPLES
Type Approval – a general type approval as issued outside the EU
Module B – an EU type approval as issued in the EU. Applies to individual equipment
Module D – a type approval as issued in the EU (or Russia). Applies to manufacturing facility.
Declaration of Conformity – issued by manufacturer for one or more equipments
If teamed with other above examples, will provide certificates for those products and from those countries and agencies of a specific type of certificate.
